Saplings Outdoor Program
Our after-school programs allow kids to explore and experience the natural world through practical involvement. We believe the outdoors encourages imaginative play, creativity, hand-eye coordination, physical strength, and mental clarity. Our educators encourage children to develop their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Additionally, a multi-age environment promotes cooperation and teamwork, while raising children's emotional awareness. Each day at Saplings is a little bit different. We allow the children’s imagination to guide our exploration and discoveries. Some of the nature-based activities include fort and shelter making competitions, fairy house building, nature art, and even creating their own bow and arrows! We value the importance of a flexible program which provides children with plenty of free time to explore their own interests and enjoy the wonders around them.

3:10-4:40 PM (Supervised brain break / snack break between 3:00-3:10)
AeroSpace Engineering - 6 wks - Sept.21-Nov.2: Aeronautical Aerospace engineering involves the design and construction of planes and space shuttles. Aeronautical engineering covers craft that stay inside the Earth’s atmosphere (such as commercial planes) while Astronautical engineering covers craft that leave the Earth’s atmosphere (such as space shuttles). In this program the specialist and managers will learn about the fundamentals of the aeronautical industry discovering about aerodynamics, gravity, velocity, forces to lift, drag and thrust objects, aerodynamics like Bernoulli principle. They will use math to improve their results, will discover about the importance of the materials in this engineering branch, and use his or her creativity and curiosity to design, build and test their own flying prototypes while they are having fun.
Robotics Engineering - 6 wks - Nov.9-Dec.14: A robotics engineer is responsible for design, creating, and programming robots and robotic systems to be able to perform duties that humans are either unable or prefer not to complete. Robots help make jobs safer, easier, and more efficient, particularly in the manufacturing industry. The specialist and managers will learn about the basics of robotic engineering, building a robot, design possibilities, material requirements, and programming. They will use the LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 TRACKER robot kit and EV3 Classroom (Scratch like) GUI software. They will face different challenges having fun using STEM education models.
BrainSTEM - Robotics & AeroSpace Engineering – Little Brains
MULTIPURPOSE ROOM 205
Ages 5-6 year
~$190(TBC)/6 wks, 1 hr (Sept.21-Nov.2 / Nov.9-Dec.14) (No class Oct.5, 2:10 pm start early dismissal Sept.28 and Oct.26)
3:10-4:10 PM (Supervised brain break / snack break between 3:00-3:10)
Robotics Engineering - 6 wks - Sept.21-Nov.2: Robotics is the science or study of the technology associated with the design, fabrication, programming and application of robots, the robots is something exciting for the little kids, they always have the curiosity to know how it works and find a lot of designs for a robot not to mention applications. A robotics engineer is responsible for design, creating and programming robots and robotic systems that can perform duties that humans are either unable or prefer not to complete. He helps to make jobs safer, easier, and more efficient, particularly in the manufacturing industry. The little brains will discover what is behind a robot, the design possibilities, the materials, mechanical simple machines used to build, what software is, and the programming languages used to create the robot instructions. Under the STEM Education programs, the leadership of our instructors and assistants, students use the LEGO® WeDo 1.0 or 2.0 hardware and GUI programming languages on computers to build their robotic animals, machines, and toys. They will code the algorithms to make their robots function and innovate by improving their programs or physical robot design.
AeroSpace Engineering - 6 wks - Nov.9-Dec.14: The aerospace industry is one of the most fascinating things for children, since we were kids, we figured out a way to reach the sky, designing wings, machines, devices that help us do this. Aerospace engineering involves the design and construction of planes and space shuttles. Aeronautical engineering covers craft that stay inside the Earth’s atmosphere (such as commercial planes) while astronautical engineering covers craft that leave the Earth’s atmosphere (such as space shuttles). In this program the little brains will learn about the fundamentals of aerospace engineering discovering about aerodynamics, gravity, velocity, forces to lift, drag and thrust objects, aerospace principles like Bernoulli principle and more, using his creativity and curiosity to design and build their own flying machines at the time they have fun.
