The Year Ahead: We have an interesting year ahead of us on a few different fronts:
- Job Action: The first phase of job action has begun, limiting what tasks our teachers are allowed to do. This will require additional parental support in some areas around the school (Fun Lunch distribution, lunch-time activities, etc.), as well as our understanding for teachers and staff as everyone does their best to continue to make things work.
- Technology Plan: At our request, last spring the teachers created a comprehensive, school-wide, multi-year plan for effective investments in technology. They looked for solutions that can be used to enhance current tools and teaching methods, as well as next steps.
- Budget changes: For the last several years, our budget has included savings as a contingency fund. These funds were originally raised by parents for laptops, which was then paid for by the Ministry. We are proposing to use these funds for the first stage of the Technology Plan
There will be some discussion of budget items at this week's meeting (Sep 21) and Final budget presentations/voting will be at the Oct. 19th meeting.
- Social committee: Last year we had an amazing social/fundraising event for parents (Casino Royale), and a wonderful time at our Multicultural Night. This year we would like to host some more great events for the whole family. There are lots of ideas percolating already: perhaps a Family BBQ, a kid-friendly dance, etc. - but we need someone to lead the charge. Sounds like fun? Contact [email protected] to get started.
Upcoming Fundraisers: these have stayed because they provide our families with great value and convenience – and all the funds go to enhance our school.
